Quang Ninh Province in northeast Vietnam is gearing up for a busy 2017 tourism season. The beauty and majesty of this region is undeniable. It is home to Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay which together have over 2,000 islands, considered to be some of the most valuable biological assets in the world. The bay area spans over 600 miles and holds two UNESCO World Heritage Site designations. The natural beauty and uniqueness of this area make it an incredibly interesting vacation spot.

The region has received billions of dollars from the international investment community for infrastructure improvements in transportation, electricity, housing, roadways and other facilities. Billions of Vietnam Dong from the local budget have been allocated with the goal of bringing global tourists to visit. Improvements are being done in consultation with the science community and developers skilled in preservation and restoration for areas of geologically significant value.

18 new caves were discovered in Quang Ninh last month. Nguyen Thi Thuy Duong, head of the Ha Long Bay management board said the new caves are highly valued for their beauty and scientific elements. Researchers are examining the caves further before issuing classifications for conservation or tourism purposes.

Other key projects planned are for hotels, schools, medical facilities and the Van Don International Airport which should be open in late 2017.
Currently, the closest airport to fly into is Cat Bi International Airport. US investors have infused an additional $100 million USD to build the Van Tien Bridge and several resort complexes, and a highway connecting Van Don, Mong Duong and Mong Cai.

At current projections, Quang Ninh will receive around 10.5 million visitors by 2020, generating 30 trillion VND in revenue and creating 62,000 jobs for the local people.
