List of New Year's Eve Events in HCMC & Hanoi

The Christmas holiday season in Vietnam is an incredibly special time of year. The weather is typically warm and people are in a festive mood morning to night. Celebrations with family, friends, and fabulous food go on for weeks, one event after another. Traditions are honored and memories are made.

The streets of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are bustling with shoppers and revelers caught up in the holiday atmosphere. Cities are crowded daily, but especially on Christmas Eve. Cars are not allowed in the city center during the evenings. People celebrate by enjoying the street food, throwing confetti, taking photos, and enjoying the extravagant decorations and lights of the big hotels and department stores. Cafes and restaurants are busy and vibrant with excited customers.

Christmas is not a public holiday in Vietnam, but the fun and decorations start showing up the first week of December. People LOVE to dress up in Santa suits, and the holiday spirit continues into the new year.

The main districts in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi’s Old Quarter are especially beautiful during the holidays. The architecturally stunning buildings combined with lights and decorations are a breathtaking sight to behold.

Vietnam Advisors thanks you for being a part of our journey and we wish you a wonderful holiday season.
