Heavy Rains Flood Saigon
September 26, 2016
Since 4 pm Saigon time on Monday September 26, heavy rains have left Saigon’s streets in chaos. Pasteur-Ham Nghi junction (District 1), Nguyen Huu Canh Street and Nguyen Duy Trinh (District 2) were submerged in over a foot of water. Traffic jams and accidents are the story of the hour.
These rains come as no surprise, as Southern Vietnam is currently in the middle of its rain season. On a brighter note, the city is investing over $940 million on flood control and sewage management projects in the future. Projects include a tidal flood control system and a new drainage system.
