The city of Hanoi has launched a new double-decker bus tour with shiny red, sparkling clean buses offering visitors audio-guided tours of the capital city. The buses are equipped with a minibar, free WiFi, and audio headsets in several languages which provide information on Hanoi’s historical and cultural landmarks.
The new bus service called City Tour is operated by the Hanoi Transport and Service Corporation (Transerco), which currently manages the northern Vietnam public transportation network. The buses will run for a trial period over the next few months to survey various routes tourists prefer. Scheduled routes will then be officially announced in October.
The trial tours officially began on June 30, 2017, in the Hoan Kiem Lake District, giving tourists an exciting view of the Hanoi’s most famous sights including the Opera House, the Old Quarter, and over 15 other stops throughout the city.
City Tour decided on the double-decker buses being painted red with colorful stripes for easy recognition. There are 42 seats on the bus upper deck and 16 seats on the lower level including seats for passengers with disabilities. Each bus is equipped with a convertible rooftop to cover passengers from the heat and rain, when necessary.
The bus service will run from 9am to 5pm daily, with a schedule of one trip every 30 minutes.
