The Vietnamese film Sweet Twenty, a remake of the Korean film Miss Granny, became the highest grossing film in the history of Vietnam.
According to the South Korean media conglomerate, CJ E&M, the film has earned $4.76 million in Vietnam since it was released on December 11 last year. CJ E&M is the original producer of the film in Korea. For the Vietnamese version Sweet Twenty (in Vietnamese, Em Là Bà Nội Của Anh), CJ E&M teamed up with Vietnam’s well respected HKFilm.
“The success of Sweet Twenty is evidence that the Vietnamese audience is discerning and enjoys well-made high quality entertainment. We are blessed to have such supportive fans. With CJ E&M, we are excited to bring more quality films to market,” said HKFilm’s Louie Nguyen, producer and HKFilm board member.
Before Sweet Twenty, De Hoi Tinh was the highest grossing film in the history of Vietnam with turnover of $4.75 million. The film was also produced by CJ E&M.
