Oct 20th – Food shortage
Ha Tinh and Quang Binh are the two provinces suffered the heaviest damage in this flood. During the past days, people here suffered heavy rains. Many localities are almost flooded, many houses, buildings, constructions were drowned. People here are waiting day bay day for water draining.As of 18/10, flood in central provinces has killed 29 people, knocked down 26 houses, unroofed another thousands houses and caused a lot of damage. From 16/10 night, It has stopped raining in provinces from Nghe An to Quang Binh, the water level in the river has been lower. However, many people here are facing starvation if there are not timely relief. – from Friends of Hue Foundation
It is forecasted to rain for one week straight in Ha Tinh.

Oct 18th Vietnam Braces for Typhoon Sarika as Flood Toll Rises to 31
Vietnam is bracing for Typhoon Sarika as the death toll from flooding in the central part of the country triggered by heavy rains rose to 31. The typhoon with sustained winds of 165 kph (103 mph) and gusts of up to 200 kph (124 mph) is moving toward northern Vietnam at 15 kilometers per hour (9 miles per hour), the national weather forecast center said Tuesday.
Sarika, named after a singing bird in Cambodia, slammed the northern Philippines on Sunday, killing two people and displacing 150,000.
In Vietnam, seven more bodies have been recovered, bringing the death toll from the flooding in central region to 31.
Oct 17th Flooding hits central Vietnam
Severe flooding in central Vietnam has left at least 21 people dead and submerged tens of thousands of homes.
Worst affected is the province of Quang Binh, where at least 11 people have been killed, crops destroyed and livestock washed away.
The floods have been caused by torrential rain, but local media say sudden discharges from hydropower reservoirs worsened the flooding.
